Morgellon’s Recovery Shield 3

Clean Up Your Environment

The third shield to combat this devastating illness is to clean up your environment using the correct and effective cleaning supplies.   Many cleaning products sound good and seem like they would work, but actually are not effective against Morgellon’s.  The following supplies are necessary:

LAUNDRY:

  • In addition to your regular laundry detergent, add 1/4 cup of Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Peppermint Soap to EVERY load of laundry.  Also, add 1/4-1/2 cup of BORAX to every load.  Do not use fabric softener.
  • Spray white vinegar in your dryer lint trap after each load.

SHOWERING/BATHING:

  • Eliminate all bath and beauty products that contain chemicals, artificial ingredients, etc.  Use all-natural products for bathing such as Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap Bar and Giovanni’s D:Tox System Purifying Body Bar.  Do NOT use commercial soaps such as Zest, Dove, Safeguard, etc.
  • Dial Foaming Anti-bacterial soap is the best we found for hand washing.
  • Keep a small plastic bowl containing powdered Borax in your shower.  Mix the Borax onto your microfiber washcloth and lather with the soaps mentioned above.  Borax is an excellent exfoliant and has medicinal properties.  It goes a long way towards eliminating the Morgellon’s organism.
  • Shampoo your hair with Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Peppermint Soap and scrub the scalp well.  This can be very drying, so follow with a second shampooing using a mild natural body wash such as Vitabath Coconut Milk (this is available at Ulta).  Regular shampoos contain surfactants and many harmful artificial ingredients and should be avoided.  Follow shampoo with a good moisturizing conditioner — we like Pureology brand.  DO NOT SKIP shampooing with the peppermint soap — this is CRITICAL to breaking the lifecycle of the organism.
  • Towel off with microfiber towels ONLY.  These can be purchased at any bedding store.
  • Do not reuse towels.  Wash them after each bath or shower.

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Vacuum carpets daily
  • Change microfiber sheets daily
  • Purchase a good air purifier and run it 24/7.  We like Whirlpool’s 510 model.
  • Change furnace filters  every 2-3 weeks and keep HVAC fan set to “ON”, not “AUTO”
  • Dry Swiffer surfaces daily to remove all dust and invisible Morgellon’s organisms.  Throw these away in your outside trash.
  • Vacuum all upholstered furniture and apply a few drops of cedarwood oil in inconspicuous places such as under and between the cushions.
  • Use dishwashing pellets containing bleach in every load of dishes.  We like “Finish” brand.

PETS:

  • Dogs and cats should be bathed regularly with Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Peppermint Soap.  Follow with a second shampoo with their regular pet shampoo.
  • Use a lint roller regularly on your pet’s coat to remove lose hairs and dander.  This is CRITICAL to stopping the spread of the organism.
  • Keep pets off of furniture as much as possible.
  • Wash all pet bedding regularly using the same  protocol mentioned under “LAUNDRY”
  • Use a product such as FrontGard to keep fleas and ticks away as Morgellon’s is suspected to have insect vectors

It is NOT necessary to throw out everything you own.  By following the Morgellon’s Shield protocol, you will interrupt the lifecycle of the organism and all of your furniture, bedding, clothing, etc. will be usable in the future.
